BundleHound

Keyboard shortcuts

BundleHound works from the keyboard alone: the search field has the cursor when the list opens, and the arrow keys move through the list from there.

List window#

Keys for searching, copying and opening the information page.

Keys What they do
Type Search by name or bundle ID. The search field has the cursor whenever the list opens.
↓ ↑ Move the selection, also while the cursor is in the search field.
⌘C Copy the selected apps’ bundle IDs, one per line. With nothing selected, copy every row shown. In the search field with text selected, copy that text.
Double-click Copy the app’s bundle ID.
⌘I Open the selected app’s information, or compare several selected apps side by side.
Escape Clear the search field. With the field empty, close the list window when it is attached under the menu-bar icon.
⌘R Refresh: read the running apps again (View ▸ Refresh).
⌘, Open Settings.
⌘Q Quit BundleHound.

Good to know

  • ⌘, and ⌘Q work while BundleHound is the active app. The menu-bar icon’s right-click menu has the same two items, Settings… and Quit BundleHound.
  • A selected row that a filter or the list length now hides does not count as selected. ⌘C then copies every row shown.
  • Copying is explained in Copying and exporting, the information page in App information.

Information page#

Two keys take you back to the list.

Keys What they do
⌘[ Back to the list.
Escape Back to the list.

Good to know

  • On the information page Escape goes back first. On the list, with the list window attached under the menu-bar icon, the next Escape closes the window.

Settings#

Two places in Settings take keys.

Where Keys What they do
Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Last-used apps shown ↑ ↓ Step the number up or down.
Settings ▸ Snippets Return OK: save the snippet. In the Template box Return adds a line instead.
Settings ▸ Snippets Escape Cancel: drop a new snippet, or undo the changes to an existing one.

Good to know

  • OK and Cancel are greyed out until you change the snippet. See Snippets.

Welcome tour#

The tour has five pages. Keys move through them.

Keys What they do
→ Next page.
← Previous page.
Return Continue, or Get Started on the last page.

Note: On the first-launch question “Connect to the App Store?”, Return chooses neither Allow nor Don’t Allow. Click your answer. See Getting started.
